Handcrafted in Switzerland

It is produced in a small factory in the canton of Schwyz. Thanks to traditional tailoring and modern design, the most sustainable jacket for lovers is created here.

Swiss wool and Swiss deerskin

Our specially developed outer fabric made of Swiss wool is unique. Wool is breathable, dirt-repellent and easy to care for. The inner fabric made of European wood fibers is silky soft and elegant. Whether in the city or on a trip to the mountains, with the LANA jacket you will always feel well protected and elegantly dressed.

Traditional and future-oriented

Today, Swiss sheep wool is hardly used in the textile industry. That is why our in-house development was the only way for us to obtain a high-quality jacket fabric from this unique raw material.

After more than 2 years of development, the time had finally come. Around 1.5 km of wool was made from 1.2 tons of Swiss wool. And all of this within a radius of a few hundred kilometers and according to the strictest sustainability criteria.

LANA consists of only 4 materials

The wool comes exclusively from Swiss sheep. This amazing raw material is normally no longer used for textiles, but after two years of development in Switzerland and Northern Italy it was made into our own Muntagnard fabric and proudly bears the name “Muntagnard Swiss LANA” fabric.

Wool regulates temperature, is comfortable to wear, wicks moisture away from the body, is dirt-repellent, odor-resistant and, in general, simply an easy-care material.

We completely do without cotton and conventional synthetic fibers. Instead, we work with wood, and even the sewing threads are made from biodegradable, wood-based fibers.

The entire inside of the LANA jacket impresses with a luxurious and silky soft wood-based lining. The raw material is European beech wood, which was processed into a fiber in Austria and woven into a silky-soft fabric in Italy. The dye works processes our fabric according to GOTS standards and the transport routes have been optimized as best as possible.

Leather – what a controversial, but still beautiful and useful raw material. Yes, we use animal skins for our LANA jacket, but we have a very specific and unique approach to leather: We recycle an otherwise unused raw material, give it a second, more valuable life and refine our jacket with stylish training.

Well over 10,000 wild red deer are hunted in Switzerland every year. Apart from the discussion about the pros and cons of hunting, until recently most of the deer hides that were produced were disposed of and burned. The remaining hides were simply no longer used, and thousands of these beautiful deer hides were thrown away as waste. This was reason enough for us to examine the possibilities of reusing this beautiful raw material and to use it for our LANA jacket.

Our leather is therefore made from the hides of Swiss red deer. In Switzerland it is tanned using purely plant-based methods, which gives it this beautiful, natural and wild look.

There are no zippers or other plastic or metal parts on the jacket, because even the buttons are made of inedible nuts. This nut is also called stone nut / Corozo nut and comes from Ecuador.

The Mayas, Incas and Aztecs of South America were known to use a special nut with a milky liquid. Dried in the sun, the Corozo nuts become bone-hard, which gives them the nickname “vegetable ivory”. Because of these properties, sculptures and the like were carved with the hardened nuts.

After the inedible coronuts had almost disappeared due to the advent of plastics and other modern materials as a great, robust and versatile raw material, they were rediscovered at the end of the 20th century due to their amazing properties.
Therefore, this natural and sustainable raw material is the ideal addition to our fully bio-based and biodegradable jacket.

Muntagnard offers minimalistic style without compromise. Inspired by nature, our colour selection is rather subtle. But we do have a splash or two of colour for the wardrobe. How about green, for example?
